Getting Started with FeeBee

After installing FeeBee, you’ll be guided through an onboarding process that ensures the app is set up correctly in your Shopify store. FeeBee relies on Shopify’s Cart Transformation API to bundle products with fees, but to make this work in practice, the app also needs its own FeeBee Script to be activated in your theme.

This script is a Theme App Embed block that must be switched on manually during onboarding. It is required for FeeBee’s storefront behavior, including cart display helpers, product-page fee notices, and adding the parent “Fees” product for Bundle with fees. In other words, activating the FeeBee Script is a required part of setup and not an optional enhancement.

Once the script is in place, you can optionally add a Fee Notice block to your product pages and then move on to creating your first fee.

The Setup Guide

Step 1: Activate the FeeBee Script (Required)

The first and most important step is activating the FeeBee Script. This script enables FeeBee’s storefront behavior and ensures fees can be displayed clearly in the cart and on product pages.

To activate it, click Enable in live theme.

Once enabled, the script integrates FeeBee into your storefront so product-page notices, cart display helpers, and Bundle with fees add-to-cart behavior can run correctly.

If the script is not activated, FeeBee storefront behavior will not work correctly. That’s why this step is marked as required in the onboarding checklist. If you publish a new theme later, enable the FeeBee Script in that theme as well.

Step 2: Customize the Product Detail Page (Optional)

After the script is active, the Setup Guide will suggest adding a Fee Notice App Block to your product pages. This block informs customers upfront that an additional fee will apply to the product they are viewing.

Adding this block is optional, but it is strongly recommended for transparency, especially when fees should be visible before checkout.

You can add the Fee Notice block by clicking the button Add app block.

Step 3: Create Your First Fee

Once the FeeBee Script is active and you’ve decided whether to display fee notices on product pages, you’re ready to create your first fee.

Click Create Fee in the app, and you’ll be taken to the fee creation form. Here you define the name, amount, type, conditions, and product scope of the fee. For example, you might create a fixed “Bottle Deposit” that applies per product unit, or a percentage-based “Handling Fee” that applies once per cart.
